Ou não há nada para fazer culturalmente, ou quase somos obrigados a seguir os rebanhos para os festivais à beira mar plantados com as bandas top mais do momento. Ou então, podemos fazer as malas e dar de fuga para o XXIº Festival de Teatro de Montemor-o-Velho. Apesar de uma idade de juízo, o Citemor não pára de arriscar. Quer apresentando-se em espaços não convencionais para teatro - o Castelo ou o Convento, a Quinta do Taipal ou o Armazém Agrícola, e até o mercado municipal- quer apostando nas gerações emergentes de criadores e de experimentação. Um aspecto exemplar é permitir ao público assistir aos ensaios e interromper para dar umas dicas. Muitas vezes louváveis e aproveitadas. É o caso da companhia residente desta edição, o Teatro da Garagem. Estreias absolutas: Zona - do colectivo O Olho. A partir do sobejamente conhecido «Stalker» (escrito por Arkádi e Boris Strugádtski, tornado filme em 1979 por Tartakosvki) e todo o ambiente que o encerra, as linguagens teatrais cruzam-se com as novas tecnologias, de forma a apresentar uma reflexão em permanente mutação sobre o futuro. «Que zona é essa que é de todos?» O Homem novo, seja quem for, seja como for, levantar-se-á. Mudanças, desenvolvido pelo Teatro Da Garagem, após um estágio do colectivo na vila desde Julho. O espectáculo incidirá sobretudo na história e da vivência próprias de Montemor, estabelecendo um diálogo vivo entre a população e o grupo de artistas envolvidos. Na Solidão Dos Campos De Algodão, de Bernard-Marie Koltès, com a primeira encenação de Nuno M. Cardoso e música de Albrecht Loops. «Como se todas as formas de relacionamento se conjugassem»: uma das citações significativas do trabalho a desenvolver em palco por Nuno Cardoso e Nuno M. Cardoso, os intérpretes da peça. Fora as estreias, o Citemor é marcado pela revisitação dos Artistas Unidos às 4 peças do seminário «Sem Deus Nem Chefe»: BURACO NEGRO/CÂNCER, DOIS HOMENS, MIKADO e O AMANTE DE NINGUÉM. Mais uma vez se pergunta «para que serve um encenador»? Três danças contemporâneas: DAISY PLANET, de Olga Mesa; LÚCIA COM ZETAS, de Ion Munduate; e EL GRAN GAME 6, de La Ribot. Mad Dog and Englishmen, and high-praise theatre As we all know, August is an awful month. Nothing to do, culturally speaking, or else pushed to rock'n'roll festivals by the sea. No way! There's an alternative route to Montemor-O-Velho, up north, and to its XXIst festival of theatre. No matter having reached its age of reason, this festival keeps on living on the edge. Or by presenting the shows in non-conventional spaces (the castle, the convent, a farm or a warehouse, the city market) or by the presentation of new emergent creators and experiences. One of the most exemplary aspects is the fact that some of the companies allow the population to assist the rehearsals and even give an idea or two that are welcomed and used! That's what happened with the Teatro da Garagem, the resident company of this edition. Absolute premieres: Zona -by the collective O Olho. From the well known «Stalker» story and all its mysterious ambience (written by Arkádi e Boris Strugádtski, filmed in 1979 by Tartakosvki), theatre meets high-tech towards a permanent mutative reflection about the future. «What zone is this that belongs to everyone?». Whatever and whoever the New Man is, he shall rise. Mudanças, developed by the Teatro Da Garagem, after a long staying of the company in the village of Montemor-o-Velho. This show will intertwine its structure with the village's history and populace, towards a living dialogue between the people and the artists.
